Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, one of the most popular American actors in the US and a professional wrestler has had presidency in mind for a couple of years, at least.

On Monday the 5th of April, he commented on an online public opinion poll released last week that found approximately 46% of Americans would consider voting for him, saying:

“I do have that goal to unite our country and I also feel that if this is what the people want, then I will do that.”

If Johnson chooses to run, he would have a line of actors who have cut their teeth in politics to look at for guidance, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger who became governor of California, former wrestler Jesse Ventura who became governor of Minnesota and former actor Ronald Reagan who become president as did former “Apprentice” star Donald Trump.

More recent examples of celebrities’ interest in politics include actor Matthew McConaughey and former Olympic champion and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, who are reportedly weighing potential runs for governor in Texas and California respectively.

The verdict on Johnson’s presidency is yet to come, since the new president Joe Biden had recently assumed the position as the leader of “the free world”. But The Rock being the next president in 2024 is certainly an intriguing idea that many would surely be excited about, considering his overwhelmingly positive public image.

Would you enjoy seeing The Rock as the next president?
